About Edose Dosing & Metering Pumps

A dosing pump injects a precise, controllable quantity of chemical into a water line — antiscalant before RO membranes, chlorine for disinfection, acid or alkali for pH correction, polyelectrolyte in an ETP. We supply the Edose range of electronic and mechanical diaphragm dosing pumps, dosing tanks, injection assemblies and spares.

Choosing capacity — LPH and pressure

Two numbers matter: the flow in LPH and the discharge pressure in kg/cm². The pump must be able to push against the pressure in the line it injects into — a 4 kg/cm² pump cannot dose into a 10 kg/cm² RO high-pressure line. Size the flow so your normal dose sits around 50-70% of the pump's maximum; a pump running at 5% stroke doses erratically, and one running at 100% has no room for adjustment.

Working out the dose

Dose rate depends on chemical concentration and feed flow. For example, dosing 4 ppm of antiscalant into 1000 LPH of feed water needs 4 grams of active chemical per hour; if you prepare a 10% solution, that is about 40 ml/hour of solution. Always prepare solution in clean water, mark the tank so consumption can be checked visually, and refill before it runs dry — an empty dosing tank means unprotected membranes.

Common problems and their causes

Loss of dosing is almost always air lock, a choked foot valve, or worn diaphragm/valve balls. Prime the suction line properly, keep the foot valve above the tank sediment, and use a pressure relief or back-pressure valve where the injection point pressure fluctuates. Chemicals that crystallise (like some hypochlorite) need periodic flushing of the injection quill.
