How to pick the right size

Vessel size is written as diameter x height in inches — 1054, 1354, 1465, 1665, 1865, 2160, 2469, 3072 and so on. Work backwards from the media: decide the resin or media volume your application needs, then choose a vessel where that media fills about 50-60% of the internal volume. The remaining freeboard lets the bed expand during backwash. Also check the service flow rate — pushing too much water through a small bed leaves it untreated no matter how good the media is.

Where FRP beats steel

FRP does not rust, weighs far less than an equivalent MS vessel, needs no internal rubber lining or painting, and handles softener brine and mildly acidic water without corroding. For most water treatment duty it is simply the more practical choice — MS vessels are needed mainly for very large sizes or high-temperature service.

Installation and care

Support the vessel on a flat, level base; never let piping weight hang on the vessel port. Do not exceed the rated working pressure. Check the top and bottom distributors when loading media, and use a media funnel and tape over the riser tube so media does not fall into it. Backwash a new bed thoroughly before commissioning to flush out fines.
