About LED Underwater Swimming Pool Lights

Underwater LED lights make a pool usable and attractive after dark, and are also a safety requirement — swimmers and pool staff need to see the bottom. We supply LED underwater lights in single colour and RGB colour-changing versions, with the fittings and control accessories needed for installation.

Why LED instead of halogen

LED units draw a fraction of the power of an equivalent halogen lamp, run far cooler, and last many times longer — which matters a great deal when the fitting is set into a pool wall and changing it means draining water. RGB versions allow colour changing and preset scenes through a controller.

IP rating and voltage — the two safety points

Underwater fittings must be rated IP68 (fully immersion-proof), not IP65 or IP67, which are only splash or temporary-immersion rated. Pool lights should run on 12V low voltage through an isolating transformer, never directly on 230V mains. This is a genuine safety matter, not a specification detail — insist on it, and have the wiring done by a qualified electrician.

Placement and installation

Lights are normally mounted on the pool wall about 45-60 cm below the water surface, spaced evenly, and aimed away from the main viewing side so swimmers are not dazzled. Niches must be sealed properly during civil work; retrofitting a wall-mounted light into a finished pool is far more difficult. Keep the transformer and controller in a dry, ventilated location away from splash.
