A Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant pushes raw water through a semi-permeable membrane under pressure, so dissolved salts, hardness, heavy metals and most bacteria stay behind and clean, low-TDS water passes through. At Aqua Filtration System, Faridabad we design, manufacture and install RO plants from 200 LPH to 5000 LPH for drinking water, process water, boiler feed, packaged drinking water, hospitals, hotels, schools and industrial units.

How an RO plant works — stage by stage

Raw water first passes pre-treatment — a multigrade (sand) filter removes turbidity and suspended solids, an activated carbon filter removes chlorine, odour and organics, and a micron cartridge filter catches whatever is left. Where hardness is high, a softener or antiscalant dosing system is added so the membrane does not scale. A high-pressure pump then feeds water into the membrane housings. Treated water (permeate) goes to storage; the concentrated reject drains away or is reused for gardening, flushing or cooling.

Choosing the right capacity

Capacity is decided by your daily requirement, not just peak flow. A simple way: divide the total litres you need per day by the hours the plant will actually run. If you need 6000 litres a day and the plant runs 8 hours, a 750 LPH plant is enough. Always confirm the feed water TDS and hardness from a lab report first — the same 1000 LPH plant is built very differently for 500 ppm borewell water than for 2500 ppm saline water. Maintenance that actually matters

Backwash the sand and carbon filters on schedule, replace micron cartridges when the pressure difference rises, keep the antiscalant dosing tank filled, and record the inlet/outlet TDS weekly. A rising permeate TDS or falling flow is the earliest warning that a membrane needs cleaning (CIP) or replacement. Done properly, membranes commonly last 2-3 years; neglected, they can fail within months.

Standard warranty is 1 year. AMC is available and charged separately depending on plant size and location.
