The membrane is the heart of every RO plant — it does the actual separation. We supply genuine DuPont (Filmtec), LG Chem, Hydranautics and CSM membranes in all common sizes for domestic, commercial and industrial plants, with proper GST invoice.
Membranes are named by their dimensions in inches. 4040 means 4 inch diameter, 40 inch length; 8040 means 8 inch diameter, 40 inch length. Smaller commercial plants use 2521 or 4021. As a rough guide, one 4040 membrane handles roughly 250-400 LPH and one 8040 handles roughly 1200-1800 LPH, depending on feed TDS, temperature and recovery. Higher feed TDS means lower output from the same membrane.
BW (Brackish Water) membranes are the normal choice for borewell and municipal water up to about 5000 ppm TDS. SW (Sea Water) membranes handle very high salinity and work at much higher pressure. LP / XLE (Low Pressure) membranes give similar rejection at lower operating pressure, which saves pump energy on low-TDS feed water. Using an SW membrane on ordinary borewell water is a common and expensive mistake.
Membranes rarely fail on their own — they fail because of what reaches them. Keep the micron cartridge fresh, run antiscalant dosing where hardness is high, remove chlorine with activated carbon (chlorine destroys polyamide membranes permanently), and never let the plant run dry or at excess pressure. Record permeate flow and TDS weekly — a falling flow means scaling or fouling, a rising TDS means the membrane is passing salts. Clean (CIP) at the first sign rather than waiting for failure.
